I think everyone knows the premise of this movie but just in case you don't here is brief synopsis.
Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas) has a loving wife and child and seems to be a good loving husband/family man. Even when he meets Alex Forrest (Glenn Close) at a company party, he does the right thing and mentions his wife. When they meet again later at a meeting, Dan invites her out for a drink since they can't seem to get a cab in the pouring rain. Things start out innocent enough but soon the conversation seems to take on another meaning while they talk about how they can keep things discreet.
Since Dan's wife is out of town he figures "why the hell not" and ends up sleeping with Alex. But he can't get rid of her that easily. They end up spending the whole weekend together. And when he tries to leave her, she cuts her wrists forcing him to spend the night with her (if that doesn't shout out crazy bitch I don't know what does). Once he knows for sure that she is going to be all right, he leaves and hopes that will be the end of it. But soon he starts getting phone calls from her at work. When he doesn't return those calls, she starts calling his home.
He agrees to meet her again. When he does, he finds out that she is pregnant and nothing he can do or say will make her change her mind about keeping it. He tells her he wants nothing to do with her and ends up moving his family into the country. Alex tracks them down and when she sees them being a happy family, she kills the family's bunny and boils him in a pot for them to find. But crazy can't seem to stop there. Next she kindaps his daughter for an afternoon. When his wife can't find her she ends up getting into a car accident. Dan is pissed and goes to her apartment and attacks her. But his conscience gets the best of him and he leaves her there alived and feeling threaten. So naturally Alex is going to retaliate.
Just in case you live in a bubble and haven't seen or heard about this movie, I won't give away the ending. At first I was kind of annoyed with the main character because he didn't really have a reason for having an affair to begin with. Other than opportunity. I guess for a guy opportunity is a reason to have an affair. Ughh. Disregarding that fact, the movie was suspenseful and I think may make anyone afraid to ever have an affair again. Then again it makes single women in their 30's look like bat shit crazy spinsters.
