I think everyone vaguely knows the plot of this movie, but in case you don't then here we go. Richard Parker (Jonathan Silverman) is a hard working New Yorker that has been sweating his balls off (literally it's apparently really hot throughout the movie) in hopes to earn a promotion with his buddy Andrew McCarthy (Larry Wilson). One weekend (yes they work weekends) they find an accounting error and they think this can be their ticket to the top.
The next day at work, they tell the president of the company, Bernie (Terry Kiser) about the error. Bernie seems thrilled with the news and invites him to his beach house for the weekend. However, Bernie has been skimming money from the company and this error could corrupt him. He meets up with some mob bosses that he has been working with and he tells them to put a hit on Richard and Andrew. Once again someone is mislead on what is to happen this weekend. It turns out the mob boss found out that Bernie was sleeping with his girl. So the hit that Bernie thinks is for his employees is actually for himself.
Bernie goes to his beach house to get everything ready. He is going to write a note from Richard and Andrew saying that they stole the money to pay for Andrew's sex change operation and then fled to another country. While writing that letter, the hit man injects him with some sort of drug or poison killing him instantly. He puts the famous sunglasses on him and then flees the scene. Moments later Richard and Andrew arrive at the house. Just when they think it's going to be a great weekend filled with fun in the sun they discover the dead body. But before they can call the cops everyone starts showing up at the house for another crazy Bernie fiesta.
Needless to say one thing leads to another and while in shock they decide to prolong telling everyone that Bernie is in fact dead. Then they start to think that people will assume they killed him so they continue to pretend he is alive. Until they realize someone keeps trying to kill Bernie, over and over again. They think they will be after him next so they continue the act.
First off, can I just point out the fact that it's a dead body in the heat of the summer for 2-3 days. How does no one notice a smell? What about rigor mortis. But seriously though. That body would stink sooooo bad. However, the movie was just as ridiculous as I thought it would be. But there was no Bernie dancing!! I guess that is the second one. So I will add that to my list of movies to watch.
