Re-dic-u-lous.
I don't even know what to think of this movie but I hope it was made for pre-teens because then it would be awesome. If it was intended as a serious movie for adults, then we might have a problem.
Dade (Johnny Lee Miller) is a boy genius. He was caught at the sensitive age of 11 after he crashed 1507 systems in one day. They sentenced him with probation and he wasn't allowed to use a computer or touch tone telephone until his 18th birthday. Fast forward seven years later, and Dade is starting at a new school in New York City where all the cool kids are hackers that dress as if they were from the year 2015 in Back to the Future.
Joey (Jesse Bradford!!) hacks into a Ellington Mineral Company and starts copying files onto his floppy. The Plague (Fisher Stevens), who works security for the company, finds him hacking into the system and decides to frame him for a crime that The Plague himself was committing. The Plague designed a worm to steal money from the company and then was covering it up with a virus called Da Vinci, which will cause an oil spill to happen.
In order to help his new friends, Dade chooses to dive back into his hacker ways and team up with a giant group of hackers in order to prevent the oil spill and prove his friends innocence.
I already talked about the outrageous fashion choices that was made in the movie. That alone is worth a watch. Plus the graphics and special effects remind me of a 90's version of Tron (although I have yet to watch that movie). Matthew Lillard makes another fantastic Matthew Lillard acting choice (a.k.a. CRAZY) and I LOVED IT. But the movie over all was a little ridiculous and I kept laughing but probably not for the right reason.
