I thought I should watch something a little more mainstream after watching the abortion video, so I settled on South Park. Oh boy. What a difference in movies. I'm not a follower of South Park but having lived with mainly the male gender I have seen my fair share of episodes and thought they were pretty amusing. But I think they should just stay 30 minute episodes.
When the movie started I was entertained and enjoyed the songs and story (even though I feel like I might have been the butt of some of their jokes), but about 30-45 minutes into it I was ready for it to be over. Enough! I get it. I started to get a little bored (and it might be my A.D.D. acting up) but I found myself starting to surf the web and only half paying attention to the movie. Though I did like the songs. I guess I'm just a show tune kind of gal.
The plot of movie musical starts with Stan (by far my favorite with his nervous puking) getting the gang together to go and see the new Terrance and Phillip movie, Asses on Fire. The movie is rated R so after paying a homeless person to buy their tickets, they get in and watch the movie. It's very clear moments into the show why it was rated R. Especially when it got to the song "Uncle Fu*ker" (which is quite catchy). Afterwards, the boys new found potty mouth upsets the town and sets their mothers in a rage where they blame Canada for everything and eventually start a war. They make a citizens arrest for Terrance and Phillip and decide to execute them to set an example. Meanwhile in Hell, the Devil and Saddam Husssein patiently wait for them to be executed so the prophecy can come true an the two can rule over Earth.
I almost feel like this movie was everything that Matt Stone and Trey Parker had ever wanted to say on television but weren't allowed to. And it was fun at first because it was shocking and new, but like I said before it lost its shock value after awhile and I started losing my interest.
