Another classic performance from Keanu Reeves.
Set in the future, Johnny (Keanu Reeves) has a storage device implanted in his brain so that he can transfer files from one person to the next without having to do it online and risk it getting hacked or a virus. But, the cost of having this device in his head was his memories. All he knows is his first name, and has no memories of his childhood or where he is from. He wants to have the device removed so that he can relax and go to Mexico (which for some reason makes me laugh every time it comes out of Keanu's mouth), but he doesn't have enough money to pay for the procedure. He takes one more job that should give him enough money to remove the device, but the size of the files is too big for his mind. Johnny goes along with it anyways, knowing that it might kill him in the end. The files transfer over to his mind and when he goes to the bathroom to freshen up the group that gave him the files is attacked and killed.
Johnny manages to escape back to Newark (really? New Jersey?) with the password that will be able to unlock the files in his mind. When he realizes that he was followed back by people that want to kill him and take the files, he hires Jane (Dina Meyer), a bodyguard who suffers from a sickness called Nerve Attention Syndrome or NAS. Together they set up to figure out what is on the file and how to get it out of his head before it destroys him.
The movie is pretty ridiculous (did I mention the Mexico part) and Keanu Reeves does some fine acting once again. I was laughing but probably for all the wrong reasons, yet again, because I don't think this was meant to be a comedy. But come on. There is a dolphin doctor at the end of the movie. What?! How can I not laugh at how crazy that is (also sorry for spoiling). Plus there is this bit where he throws a tempter tantrum about how much he wants to go to Mexico (seriously dying right now). And with actors like Ice T and Henry Rollins backing you up, what's not to love.
